What is a tiffin, really?
The original Indian meal-prep — a hundred years before meal kits were a startup category.
A tiffinis a stacked tin lunch box — and the service of delivering it every day to working people is one of India's oldest food traditions. In Mumbai, the dabbawalas have been doing it for over 130 years. The idea is simple: a home-style cooked meal, made the same morning, delivered hot, eaten fresh, every working day.
IndiaWaale's tiffin service brings that tradition to Toronto. We cook in our North York kitchen at Peanut Plaza, portion the day's meal into proper compartmented containers, and run delivery routes across North York, Markham, Scarborough and Pickering. You get 20 meals over the month — typically lunch on Mondays through Fridays — for a flat monthly price with free delivery.
Each tiffin includes 2–3 fresh tawa rotis or naan, aromatic basmati rice, two large veg or non-veg curries, dal, a creamy raita, a fresh onion-cucumber salad, and a small daily dessert (gulab jamun, kheer, halwa, or laddoo depending on the day). It's the meal an Indian aunty would cook if she lived next door — except you don't have to ask.
Why tiffin beats the alternatives
The math is brutal once you actually do it.
vs. Cooking every day
Groceries + 90 minutes a day of prep, cooking and cleanup. Even at $20/hour for your time, that's $30/day before food cost. You don't actually have time. Your family doesn't actually like the rotation of the same three dishes.
vs. Uber Eats / DoorDash
Average GTA Indian meal on apps: $25–$35 after delivery fees, service fees, tip and tax. Times 20 lunches = $500–$700/month. Tiffin: $240–$270. Real home cooking, not restaurant heavy-cream butter chicken five days a week.
vs. Meal kits / frozen meals
HelloFresh and Factor are fine for one-off meals, but the "Indian" options are mild, sweet, and not actually Indian. Frozen meals are full of preservatives. Tiffin is cooked the morning of and delivered hot.

Tiffin FAQ
What is a tiffin service?+
A tiffin service is a subscription that delivers a complete home-style Indian meal to your door every working day. It's how millions of Indians eat lunch — fresh, hot, balanced, and never the same meal twice in a row. IndiaWaale's tiffin gives you 20 meals per month delivered to Toronto, North York, Markham, Scarborough and Pickering.
Who is the IndiaWaale tiffin service for?+
Working professionals, students, seniors, new parents, single bachelors, and anyone who's tired of cooking every day or paying $20+ per meal on delivery apps. If you want home-cooked Indian food without the cooking, this is for you.
How is this different from Uber Eats or DoorDash?+
Uber Eats meals average $25–$35 with delivery fees, tips and tax. Our tiffin works out to $12 per meal with free delivery and no fees. Delivery apps don't repeat the same restaurant every day — our tiffin gives you a planned weekly menu so you actually eat balanced North Indian home cooking.
What areas of Toronto do you deliver to?+
We currently deliver free to North York, Markham, Scarborough and Pickering. If you're outside those zones in Toronto, call 647-518-0951 — we may be able to add you to a route.
Are the tiffins halal? Vegan?+
Yes — all non-veg tiffins use 100% halal-certified meat. Vegetarian tiffins make up most of our subscriptions, and we have vegan-friendly options on request (no dairy, no ghee). Tell us your dietary needs at signup.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. You're not locked in. Cancel or pause your subscription with 7 days' notice. We refund unused balance pro-rata.
